Google Maps is an online map service used frequently for navigation and getting correct directions to desired destinations in an unknown place. From cab drivers to food delivery guys or other doorstep deliveries, everyone uses Google Maps for proper directions. Even common people also depend on this mobile application.
However, some people take the directions of Google Maps very seriously and end up regretting their decision. Social media has plenty of stories of such blunders. One such recent incident in Gudalur, Tamil Nadu, adds to the growing list of Google Maps blunders.
The incident followed when a group of friends, returning from a weekend getaway in Gudalur, found themselves in a predicament after their SUV ended up stuck on a flight of stairs.
Situated at the tri-junction of Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, Gudalur is a popular holiday spot. Relying on Google Maps for their return journey to Karnataka, the friends followed the suggested "fastest route". Little did they know, this would lead them through police quarters and ultimately, to a steep flight of stairs in a residential area!
Unable to proceed, the driver was reportedly forced to halt the vehicle and call for help. Locals and police personnel came to their rescue, manoeuvring the vehicle back to the main road, reports said.
The video of the incident quickly gained attention on social media platform X, with many users sharing their similar experiences with Google Maps.
