Vivek Agnihotri shares video of Mumbaikars walking on railway tracks after local trains get delayed
Hundreds of Mumbaikars, who use the Mumbai local trains to commute to their offices, were forced to walk on railway tracks after the trains were delayed due to some technical glitch. A few trains were delayed and others were diverted after a bamboo structure fell on an overhead wire.
This has spread outrage among netizens, especially those who are dependent on Mumbai local trains to commute to and from houses. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, known for ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘The Vaccine War’ shared a video of people walking on the railway tracks to their offices.
“Mumbaikars walking on railway tracks to reach their office due to failure of local train service. Just ask a simple question: Can you even imagine torture of citizens like this in any civilised country?” Vivek shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).
As expected, his post went viral with netizens expressing concern about the condition of passengers who are dependent on Mumbai local trains.
“We glorify our struggle as spirit and resilience and such. The truth is our lives are so wretched , low quality that we have no choice but to wade in filthy waters. Is there a solution?? Of course yes; Is there a political will? Not sure,” shared a user.
Another user wrote, “This is so unsafe and irresponsible behaviour. They could have used road for walking. Railway track is not meant for walking. Railways also holds the responsibility. No proper maintenance and why there is no railway police to ensure something like this doesn’t happen?”
“We in Mumbai are used to this irrespective who are the rulers... it happens every year and people are hell bent on reaching their office or home,” shared another user.
