Video of Bengaluru couple in metro goes viral; netizens demand action

A young couple’s alleged obscene act at the Namma Metro station near Madavara in Bengaluru has left many shocked and uncomfortable. The viral video has sparked outrage, reminding netizens of the infamous acts in Delhi Metro, as the young man can be seen indulging in ‘highly inappropriate behaviour with his girlfriend’.

In the viral video, the boyfriend can be seen openly putting his hands inside the shirt of his girlfriend while standing in the metro. In full public view, the couple can be seen indulged in the public display of affection (PDA) with no bother for other commuters.

Such actions, especially in a public place like a metro station, has sparked outrage online after the video went viral on social media, especially X (formerly known as Twitter).

“Public spaces are meant for everyone including children, women, families, elders – and to see people treat them as private zones for intimate behavior is both disrespectful and disgraceful. It reflects a growing lack of shame and decency among certain individuals who seem to have no regard for public conduct or the people around them,” a user shared.

Likewise, another user shared, “While relationships are a personal matter, there is a clear line between affection and public indecency – and that line should never be crossed in a space meant for public transit. What’s even more disappointing is the attitude of some young women who tolerate or even encourage such behavior from their partners, as if there’s nothing wrong with it. This is not boldness or freedom – this is carelessness, disrespect, and a lack of social awareness.”

“Bengaluru has always been a city known for its progressive yet respectful culture. Unfortunately, with incidents like these becoming more frequent, one can't help but wonder what kind of values are being brought into our city, and why basic standards of public behavior are being ignored,” shared another user.

“Authorities must act strictly against such behavior and set examples so that public spaces remain safe, clean, and respectful for everyone,” he added.
