A startling video from a government school in Ghodasot village, Balrampur district, Chhattisgarh, has sent shockwaves across the internet. In the clip, teachers including the headmaster are seen struggling to answer elementary-level questions, sparking widespread concern over the state of public education.
During what appeared to be a surprise inspection, the teachers were unable to name key figures such as the Prime Minister of India, the state’s Chief Minister, the District Collector, or even the Superintendent of Police.
The silence from both students and staff revealed a deep-rooted issue that extends beyond just one classroom.
Spelling Blunders Go Viral
The most talked-about moment came when an English teacher was asked to write the spellings of “eleven” and “nineteen.” His confident responses — “aivene” and “ninithin” left viewers stunned. Even more alarmingly, he proceeded to teach those incorrect spellings to students in front of the inspectors.
The video, shared with the caption, “This is who teaches our children?”, went viral, igniting a firestorm on social media. Some users blamed the reservation system, while others questioned the teacher’s qualifications and demanded accountability.
Authorities Promise Action, Block Media Access
According to India Today, local officials discouraged journalists from visiting the school premises. However, the District Education Officer has since assured the public that a full investigation is underway and disciplinary action will follow.
This incident has once again highlighted the glaring gaps in recruitment and training within government schools, raising serious questions about the future of children taught in such environments.
