In Indian weddings, Baraatis play a significant role. The groom makes a dashing entry at the bride's house/wedding mandap with music, dance, colourful attires and baraatis. The groom's family members, relatives and close friends accompany him in the baraat procession. The baraatis dance to the music beats to celebrate the joy and excitement of the groom getting married. While social media is flooded with videos of baraat and dance of baraatis, only a few go viral on the internet. Recently, one such video of a baraat has surfaced on the internet that shows Russians grooving to the beats of the popular Sambalpuri song Rangabati in Odisha.
In the video, several foreigners along with native Indians can be seen donned in colourful attires and turbans. The baraatis are seen dancing to the beats of the popular Sambalpuri song Rangabati and enjoying every bit of it.

While the origin source of the video couldn't be verified, it is shared on Instagram by Santu PMI. As claimed, the incident was purportedly recorded in Odisha's capital city Bhubaneswar. Moreover, the user claims that the Russians grooved to the popular Sambalpuri song Rangabati. If the claims are to be believed, the marriage procession is certainly a great example of cross-cultural celebration with foreigners exchanging the practices common in Odisha.

Notably, Rangabati song was first recorded by All India Radio in the mid-1970s. It was later re-recorded by Indian Record Manufacturing Company Ltd (INRECO) in 1976 and it finally came out in 1978–79. However, the Sambalpuri folk song became popular in the 1970s and 1980s. The peppy folk number is often played at marriage processions and idol immersion in Odisha. Rangabati gained official recognition in 2007 after it was featured in Odisha's tableau during Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.
