A viral video of rats crawling in an AC coach of the South Bihar Express train has sparked concerns about cleanliness and hygiene on trains. While passengers often complain about low food quality, dirty bathrooms, and erratic train schedules, the videos of rats crawling in an AC coach have left netizens shocked.
According to sources, the passenger Prashant Kumar had paid over Rs 2000 for his second AC ticket on the South Bihar Express. He boarded the train and set off for his journey. Little did he know that his journey was going to be ruined by rats crawling around.
Unforgettable Journey In AC Coach:
Shocked, Prashant shared the videos of the rats scurrying across the coach and shared the clips on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“PNR 6649339230, Train 13288, multiple rats in coach A1, rats are climbing over the seats and luggage. Is this why I paid so much for the AC 2 class?” Prashant’s caption read.
The Railways were quick to respond, and the staff sprayed an insecticide typically used for cockroaches. Later, Prashant shared that the insecticide only made things worse, as he had to deal with both the rats and the smell of the spray.
Social Media Reactions:
The video of the rats has not gone well with netizens, who took to the comment section and came up with hilarious replies.
Sharing his own experience, a netizen wrote, “I have travelled in SMVT Bhubaneswar Humsafar train last week. There too rats are there, I have even complained to the coach attendant but he said 'wo to hamesha rehte hain, kya karen?”
Likewise, another user shared, “It's hard to change the psychology of the masses. “Chalta hai, chalne do wala attitude" is not something that we can easily get rid of. People traveling in AC coaches are also responsible, along with the railway management.”
“Blame the people along with Railways. If people can’t keep hygiene and cleanliness to then how can railways alone help,” shared another user.
