Police caught travelling without tickets in AC-2 coach sparks outrage online
Despite repeated warnings from the Indian Railways against ticketless travel, police personnel continue to flout the rules, showing a persistent preference for travelling without tickets. Numerous incidents have surfaced, showcasing conflicts between police officers and TTEs over this issue. Recently, a purported video surfaced on social media capturing the unruly behaviour of police officers travelling without train tickets inside an AC-2 coach.
In the video shared by the popular X account Ghar Ke Kalesh, a heated conversation between a passenger and two police officers is evident when the passenger discovers that the officers were travelling without tickets in the AC-2 coach.
The officers can be seen arguing with the passenger, claiming they are from the GRP and can travel without tickets. When the passenger questions if the police officer is on duty on this train, the officer replies affirmatively. However, when asked to show his pass, the officer states they are going to catch their train. Towards the end of the video, the officers can be seen threatening the passenger.
Within hours of being shared, the video amassed over 938K views and a plethora of reactions from social media users. It’s no surprise that X users were unfazed by this incident, as many believe police officials often take advantage of situations without paying for tickets. Some even called for the cop’s suspension due to this behaviour.
One X user demanded, “See this policeman is threatening the passenger with consequences. It is clearly visible. Strict action should be taken, or else police like this will keep tarnishing the reputation of law enforcement.”
Another account remarked, “It’s not just about train travel. They often travel by bus and auto without paying, simply because they are police. They should remember that they are supposed to set an example for others. People look up to them.”
Someone else wrote, “Police are supposed to protect us, but instead, they’re threatening passengers.”
