‘Paisa do Dhaniya lo’; Dhaniya at Rs 130 on online grocery platform sparks hilarious reactions on social media

Vegetable and grocery prices are soaring across India, hitting consumers hard. Many people are turning to online shopping, where numerous apps make it easy to order groceries and vegetables.

Recently, a user noticed that coriander (dhaniya) was being sold for Rs 131 per 100 grams on the quick delivery platform Zepto. The user took a screenshot and posted it on a social media platform X, causing the post to go viral due to the high price of coriander online.

In response to the viral post, Zepto acknowledged a system glitch the previous day that caused pricing discrepancies across their platform.

The viral post sparked humorous reactions on social media. One user commented, "Hahaha. Everything is 4X; someone must be paying them." 

Another said, "At this price, I'd rather buy dry fruits!" A different user joked, "If you want everything sitting at home, you'll have to pay a premium. If a local vendor charges Rs 10 extra, people start shouting." 

Another user commented, "Beware of Zepto, even moms should be scared." Yet another remarked, "Looks like we'll need a loan just to buy coriander now. 🤭" 

Another user humorously said, "Chefs be like: what injustice is this!" 

Someone else joked, "Now no one will give coriander for free! Coriander demands full respect." 

Another user commented, "Prices go up in the monsoon! All veggies become expensive in this season." And a ninth user added, "Vegetable sellers give them for free."
