No fish & meat at wedding, angry groom and relatives thrash bride’s family
Kicks and punches rained on the bride’s family as fish and meat were missing from the wedding menu. The lack of fish and meat incensed the groom and his relatives so much that they attacked the bride’s family and even beat them up with sticks.
The only mistake of the bride’s family was that they had arranged a vegetarian wedding ceremony. Panner, pulao and various other vegetarian curries were part of the big spread. However, the groom and his relatives demanded fish and meat, leading to the fight.
The matter became so complicated that the wedding had to be called off and the groom left the venue. Meanwhile, the bride’s family has accused the groom of taking Rs 5L dowry.
The bizarre incident has been reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district. Abhishek Sharma was supposed to marry Sushma, daughter of Dinesh Sharma of Anand Nagar village. Everything was going on as per the plan and even the varmala ceremony had been concluded.
However, the groom and his relatives learnt that there were no non-veg items in the wedding menu. A video of the whole incident, recorded on a phone, shows a melee, with both groups attacking each other. Chairs are seen flying with punches being thrown between the groom and the bride’s side.
“The groom, his father and relatives began using abusive language due to lack of non-veg food. When I objected, they started beating my family with sticks, kicked and punched us,” the bride’s father said in Hindi in his complaint.
“I have given Rs 4.5L to the groom for purchasing a car as dowry. A tilak set and two gold rings (worth Rs 20,000) have also been given,” the complainant added.
