In a bizarre incident, commuters in Mumbai were left stunned after a LED sign board at a junction in Mumbai flashed a controversial message that read ‘Smoke Weed Everyday’.
Commuters at the junction starting from the Haji Ali dargah towards Worli Naka junction were shocked to see the bizarre message, that too in capital red letters.
Now, the video of the incident, shot by a commuter from his car, has taken social media by storm. Sharing the video, a social media user wrote, “Haji Ali, Mumbai diversion sign now says ‘smoke weed everyday’.
The video has garnered hilarious responses from Twitter users after being shared on the micro-blogging site. After being shared on Twitter, the video has received more than 1600 views.
A user wrote, “Snoop Dogg be like hum first, hum first,” while another shocked user wrote, “Is it?”
However, many social media users pointed out that the message might have been apparently triggered by a “technical fault.”
When contacted, Joint Commissioner (Traffic) Pravin Padwal said the message on the LED display board might have been due to some glitch. He added that the board is operated by Larsen and Toubro (L&T) in the evening hours.
"L&T company has installed LED display board for diversion on northbound from Haji Ali to Lotus junction. When discussed with L&T engineer, Mr Thackeray, in this regard, he said that due to some technical glitch last night, a wrong message was flashing on the display,” Padwal told India Today.
“He has contacted his IT team regarding this and the display board has been closed until it is fixed,” he added.
He went on to say that the display board has been closed until it is fixed.
Many users tagged Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde to look into the matter.
