An 11-year-old boy in Mumbai’s eastern suburb of Mankhurd was viciously bitten by a Pit Bull after the dog’s owner allegedly unleashed it on him in a shocking act of cruelty. The incident, which took place on Thursday, has sparked outrage after a video of the attack surfaced online.

Video Shows Owner Amused as Boy Screams

In the disturbing video, the young victim, Hamza, is seen cowering in fear inside a parked auto-rickshaw with the Pit Bull seated next to him. The dog’s owner, identified as Mohammad Sohail Hasan (43), is seen in the front seat laughing at the child’s terrified reactions. Crucially, Hasan does not hold the dog’s leash even as the child pleads for help.

Moments later, the Pit Bull lunges at Hamza, biting his chin. The boy manages to flee the rickshaw while the dog clings to his clothes. Shockingly, Hasan continues to laugh as his pet chases after the child.

Victim Speaks Out

“The dog bit me. Then I ran away. He even grabbed my clothes,” Hamza recounted. He added that he repeatedly begged Hasan for help during the attack, but his pleas were ignored. “I was very scared. No one came forward to help me. They were just filming,” the traumatized boy said.

Police Action Against Owner

A case has been registered against Hasan based on a complaint filed by Hamza’s father. The Mumbai Police booked Hasan under sections 291 (negligent handling of animals), 125 (causing simple hurt), and 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A notice under section 35(3) of BNS has also been issued to him.

The incident has reignited debates around responsible pet ownership and public safety in urban areas.
