A Bengaluru techie went missing on August 4. Despite filing an FIR, he went untraceable for around 10 days following which his wife Sreeparna Dutta took to social media and claimed that police were not making enough efforts to trace him. She also pleaded for help to find her husband.
Now, after 10 days, Vipin Gupta has been located by Uttar Pradesh police at a mall in Noida. As per the police, he has changed his appearance by shaving off his head.
As per reports, the tech professional identified as Vipin Gupta, originally hailed from Lucknow and went missing for 10 days. According to his wife, Vipin vanished from Tatanagar, Kodigehalli at around 12:42 pm. He was last seen in a beige jacket and dark grey track pants, riding his green Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle. Notably, he left without any bags, and shortly after his disappearance, Rs 1.8 lakh was withdrawn from his bank account. His phone was also turned off.
Dutta's wife, who resides with her two young daughters in North Bengaluru, criticized the police's lack of progress and raised suspicion over her husband's kidnapping. She also claimed financial strain due to the withdrawn money.
During the initial investigation, police had no clue about Dutta's whereabouts. Even footage of CCTVs installed at bus stops, airports and railway stations was examined, but they couldn't find any clue.
However, Dutta purchased a new SIM in Noida and used it on his old phone after which the cops were able to trace him.
As per a report in Times of India (TOI), the investigation officers surrounded Dutta in civil clothes. When he realised that they were cops and were there to take him back, he strongly objected.
"We told him we should fly back to the city, and he strongly objected," one of the investigating officers was quoted as saying.
However, after a few hours, they convinced him to fly back. But, even then Dutta told the cops to put him in prison but not send him home to his wife.
In the police statement, the techie shared that his wife harasses and tortures him. He was then sent back home.
According to TOI, Dutta told the police that he was her second husband. He met her around three years back. Then she was divorced and had a 12-year-old daughter. Dutta was then a bachelor and agreed to marry. They both have an eight-month-old daughter together.
As Dutta said, she curtails his freedom and shouts at him even if a drop of rice or a piece of chapati falls off his plate. She also forces him to dress according to her and doesn't allow him to go out alone.
Talking about the reason why he changed his appearance, Dutta said that after his wife posted videos and pictures online announcing that he was missing, he was forced to disguise.
Now, Dutta has returned to his home and the same has been confirmed by his wife.
Vipin's wife took to X and wrote, "Thank you to one and all - the Law and order, CM office, media, friends, colleagues and people from all walks of life to support and help with the tracing of Vipin. Vipin is back home but he is in a state of shock and trauma. Doctor has advised him to rest and he will undergo therapy." (sic)
