In a breathtaking display of courage and composure, Kerala forest officer G.S. Roshni has captured the internet’s admiration after she rescued a massive King Cobra from a stream near Peppara in Thiruvananthapuram.

The rescue, carried out on July 6 by a five-member Rapid Response Team (RRT), showcased Roshni’s exceptional skill and calmness in handling one of the world’s most feared serpents.

Calm Under Pressure: A Viral Rescue Video

The dramatic rescue, which has now gone viral, shows Roshni approaching the 15-foot-long, 20-kg cobra with a hooked pole and a large sack.

In the video, she moves with precision, gripping the snake’s tail and patiently coaxing it into the bag. At one point, her gentle plea “please” as she guides the cobra reveals her remarkable presence of mind and respect for wildlife.

Despite the King Cobra’s efforts to wriggle free, Roshni successfully secured the giant reptile within six minutes. The snake was later safely released back into the forest.

A Milestone in a Stellar Career

For Roshni, this was no ordinary rescue. While she has handled over 800 snakes, both venomous and non-venomous, this marked her first encounter with a King Cobra, making it a defining moment in her eight-year career.
