Life can be painfully cruel. Just days after her tragic death, a throwback video of Nikki Bhati, 28, driving a Mercedes with a radiant smile has surfaced online, a chilling reminder of a life brimming with dreams that ended in flames. Nikki, once full of life, succumbed to her injuries after being set ablaze at her in-laws’ home in Greater Noida on 21 August.
Dreams Denied
According to investigators, the horrific attack stemmed from an argument over Nikki’s wish to reopen her beauty parlour. Her husband, Vipin Bhati, allegedly objected, telling her that “posting reels and running a parlour” were not acceptable in their family. What started as a quarrel spiralled into unspeakable violence.
Nine Years of Silent Suffering
Nikki and her sister Kanchan married into the same family in December 2016, Nikki to Vipin and Kanchan to his brother Rohit. Despite providing a Scorpio SUV, a Royal Enfield bike, gold and cash during the wedding, her family claims the harassment never stopped. The demands allegedly escalated to an additional Rs 36 lakh, with Nikki repeatedly returning to her parental home over the years before being persuaded to go back.
The Night of Horror
Disturbing footage from 21 August reveals a man pouring thinner commonly used in salons on Nikki as she sat on the floor. Another clip shows Vipin mercilessly assaulting her, followed by a harrowing moment of Nikki, engulfed in flames, staggering down the stairs before collapsing.
Justice Underway
Vipin was arrested after a dramatic police chase and remains in 14-day judicial custody. His mother, Daya Bhati, and brother, Rohit, have also been detained as Nikki’s grieving family and a shocked nation demand swift and uncompromising justice.
