World Suicide Prevention Day is being observed across the globe on September 10 to spread awareness about suicide prevention and end the stigma around mental health. Meanwhile, a video has stormed the internet that shows a college girl's foiled attempt to end her own life by lying down on the railway track. Luckily, the loco pilot applied emergency brakes and saved her life.
As per reports, the young girl from Motihari, Bihar, went to Chakia railway station with the intent to commit suicide. She walked to the track and lay down. However, after waiting for a long time, the train didn't arrive and she fell asleep.
Meanwhile, the loco pilot of the train saw the girl lying on the track from a distance and applied emergency brakes. Luckily, the train came to a halt just inches away from her head.
As seen in the video, the girl is lying on the track with the train's engine quite above her head. People can be heard asking her to get up from the track but the girl doesn't respond.
Meanwhile, a local intervened and pulled her up carefully by holding her hand. People at the spot inquired the girl about the reason for making such a decision. Later, a few other women walked in and lifted her up. However, the girl resisted the locals multiple times as they took her away from the track.
Well, it was for the loco pilot's presence of mind and instant action for which the girl escaped a certain death.
While the origin source of the video couldn't be obtained, the entire incident was recorded by the loco pilot on his mobile.
