Once an engineer, a man has now been begging for a living in the streets of Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India. He was a product engineer in Mindtree, Global Village and has done MS in Frankfurt Germany.

While the reasons were not known immediately, it is said that he resorted to drinking after losing his long-time girlfriend and his parents. The man’s story has sent shockwaves across social media. The matter came to the fore after the man’s story was first shared by a content creator on Instagram. @sharath_yuvaraja_official posted a series of videos and shared the story of the engineer turned beggar.

The first video shows the man in a dishevelled state. He claimed he was an engineer working with a prominent tech consulting company in Global Village Tech Park, now known as Sattva Global City, near Mysuru Road, before he quit.

The man confessed that he resorted to drinking after he lost his parents and now begs for a living. His videos are now going viral on all social media platforms with support pouring in from netizens. However, the man is reportedly often in a drunken state and does not agree to be taken anywhere.

He is mostly seen on the JSS College Road in Jayanagar 8th Block, reports said. He is very fluent in English and said, “Actually religion, caste, all those things… see what did (have) I become, finally, I need to read more, I need to read more.”

His story has resonated with many as netizens offered to extend help in the comment section.

“This is a stark reminder of the unpredictability of life. It’s crucial to support mental health and provide opportunities for skill development and rehabilitation. No one should have to face such circumstances, especially in a city known for its thriving tech ecosystem,” shared a user.

Another user shared, “Can we get together and get him back on track please.... We could approach Mrs. Sudha Murthy. We have to do this. People in Jayanagar, please initiate...we will join... PLEASE.”

“Life is shit and society has failed us. The economy is against positive growth,” shared another user.
