In a shocking incident, an army jawan was pinned to a pole and brutally beaten by toll plaza workers in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut. The jawan, identified as Kapil Kavad, was on his way to Delhi airport with his cousin to return to duty in Srinagar when the assault took place at Bhuni Toll Plaza on the Meerut–Karnal highway.

Disturbing videos circulating on social media show Kapil being overpowered by multiple toll employees and being thrashed mercilessly while restrained against a pole. Police confirmed that Kapil, who was on leave, had requested toll staff to let him pass quickly as there was a long queue, but a dispute soon turned violent.

Arrests and Investigation

Meerut police have arrested six toll workers in connection with the attack and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify others involved. A case of attempt to murder has been registered, and teams are working to ensure strict action against all culprits.

The incident triggered outrage among locals. Furious villagers stormed the toll plaza, damaging property, clashing with toll staff, and halting toll collection. Police had to intervene to control the chaos.

Recent Similar Incident

This comes weeks after another disturbing case in Deoria, where a 65-year-old retired army jawan, Ramdayal Kushwaha, was beaten to death by his neighbour following a land dispute. The back-to-back incidents have sparked concerns over the safety of soldiers, both serving and retired, outside their line of duty.
