What was meant to be a joyful summer escape to the scenic hills of Manali turned tragic for a Nagpur-based family when their 10-year-old daughter, Trisha Bijwe, suffered a horrifying fall during a ziplining adventure. The accident occurred on June 8 at a tourist facility where the young girl fell nearly 30 feet into a gorge after the zipline belt suddenly snapped mid-air.

Trisha, the daughter of Prafulla and Bijwe, was enjoying the ride when the harness failed — a moment captured on video by the family, who have since shared the footage publicly to draw attention to the shocking lack of safety at the site.

Critical Injuries and Delayed Medical Support

Trisha sustained multiple fractures in her leg and was initially provided basic medical aid in Manali. However, due to the severity of her injuries and lack of specialized care facilities, she was later transferred to a hospital in Chandigarh, and then flown back to Nagpur, where she is currently receiving intensive treatment at a private hospital. Her condition remains critical, as per the family's latest update.

Alarming Lack of Safety Measures

According to the Bijwe family, the ziplining site lacked essential safety infrastructure and trained staff. Most disturbingly, there was no immediate medical help or emergency protocol in place following the incident. “Had there been proper safety checks or supervision, this could’ve been avoided,” said a family member.

Call for Accountability and Better Regulation

The family is now calling for strict action against the zipline operators and a comprehensive safety audit of adventure tourism activities across Himachal Pradesh. “We trusted this facility with our child’s life. What happened was pure negligence,” said the father, urging authorities to prevent such tragedies in the future.

The Himachal Pradesh tourism department is yet to issue an official statement. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked outrage online, with many demanding stronger regulation and better oversight in India’s booming adventure tourism industry.
