Srinagar: A village head, affiliated with the ruling National Conference, was shot dead and his friend injured by militants in south Kashmir`s Kulgam district, police said today.

Gulzar Ahmad Dar, 50, was shot dead by militants in Qoimoh area of Kulgam district, 75 kms from here, last night when he was returning home from a mosque after offering night prayers, the police said. Dar`s friend Abdul Qayoom was injured in the militant attack.
