Rourkela: A junior engineer and a junior technician of an electricity supply company were arrested by vigilance sleuths while allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from a house owner in Jagda area here, vigilance sources said today.

Junior Engineer Rabinarayan Mohanty had demanded the bribe amount from Ajan Kumar Dey of Jagda for reconnection of power supply to his house.

The JE along with junior technician Sk Rahimuddin came to Dey`s house on Friday night and reconnected power supply. The JE was paid the money in front of the house after power connection was given to his house, they said. The JE had earlier disconnected power supply to Dey`s house alleging tampering of meter and demanded the bribe for reconnection of the power supply.

Mohanty and Sk Rahimuddin were arrested and the bribe amount was seized from them. Both will be produced before a vigilance court at Sambalpur.
