Berhampur: A private tutor was today arrested in Ganjam district for allegedly raping one of his minor girl students, who is also the classmate of his elder daughter, the police said. Hina Pradhan (38) of Ramchandrapur village under Sheragada police station was caught from Berhampur railway station while, the sources said, he was trying to flee to Surat with the 13-year-old victim.

Father of two daughters, Hina allegedly kidnapped the girl on Saturday, when she was going to tuition. As she did not return, her father lodged a complaint before the police. Police registered a missing case and started inquiry.

After the abduction, he kept the class VIII student for two days in a private lodge here and raped her there before trying to flee, the sources said. Both the accused teacher and the victim were medically examined at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.
