In a bizarre incident, a man was left in shock after he allegedly ended up receiving a packet of quinoa seeds instead of Rs 90K camera lens that he had ordered online from Amazon.
The man identified as Arun Kumar Meher took to Twitter to share his plight. He described how he had ordered a Sigma 24-70 f 2.8 lens from Amazon on July 5. However, when he received the package, he was left in shock after unearthing its content. He opened the box only to find quinoa seeds instead of his ordered camera lens.
Terming it a big scam, he wrote, “Ordered a 90K INR Camera lens from Amazon, they have sent a lens box with a packet of quinoa seeds inside instead of the lens. Big scam by @amazonIN and Appario Retail. The lens box was also opened. Solve it asap.”
He went on to add, “Amazon is saying they are investigating the case, but how come this happened in the first place. This is totally unacceptable, please solve it asap and send me the lens I ordered or refund my money.”
Replying on the post, Amazon wrote, "We apologize for the issue with incorrect item. As you have reported this to our support team, our team must have asked you to wait for a certain time frame, we request you to please wait till the mentioned time frame for an update. Appreciate your understanding."
Since being shared on Twitter, the post has garnered a plethora of reactions from social media users who also shared their bad experiences of online shopping.
A user shared, “I also faced the same thing. Ordered an oneplus nord 3 phone in May. Amazon did all the checks at their end and said that order was correctly delivered. Shared CCTV footage of delivery and unboxing despite no compensation by Amazon.”
Another user wrote, “Here is what might happen next, they will investigate and after ensuring that indeed the product was sealed and packed in the warehouse, they will turn a blind eye towards the one more courier fraud and close the case unilaterally. @amazon staff seems complicit in the whole thing.”
