This toxic fixation recently came to light in Ghaziabad, where a woman alleged that her husband demanded she sculpt herself into the image of Bollywood star Nora Fatehi, with devastating consequences.
Lavish Wedding, Harsh Reality
According to media reports, the 26-year-old woman Shanu/Shanvi from Muradnagar in Ghaziabad, married Shivam Ujjawal, a government physical education teacher, on March 6, 2025. Her family spent over Rs 76 lakh on the wedding, including a Mahindra Scorpio worth Rs 24 lakh, Rs 16 lakh in jewellery, and Rs 10 lakh in cash.
Despite the extravagant arrangements, the marriage quickly turned into a nightmare.
Nora Fatehi Obsession and Fitness Torture
Shortly after the marriage, the woman alleged that her husband forced her to exercise for at least three hours daily to achieve a physique like Nora Fatehi’s. Whenever she failed to do so, she was denied food. He reportedly taunted her, saying his life was ruined as he could have married someone more beautiful, like the Bollywood star. This constant comparison to a celebrity figure became the root of repeated humiliation and emotional abuse.
Dowry Demands and Domestic Harassment
As claimed by the woman, despite receiving a heavy dowry, her in-laws allegedly demanded additional money, land, and household goods. She also accused them of verbal abuse, fat-shaming, and even physical assault. In one instance, she was beaten for failing to set up a mosquito net. Her husband’s family reportedly monitored her movements, creating an environment of control and constant fear.
Forced Abortion and Miscarriage
The ordeal escalated when the woman became pregnant. She alleged that her husband secretly administered an abortion pill, which she later identified after researching online. She suffered heavy bleeding, eventually leading to a miscarriage. Her in-laws allegedly abandoned her at her parental home after her health deteriorated, showing no responsibility or concern.
Woman Files FIR
According to media reports, after months of abuse, the woman approached the Ghaziabad Mahila Thana (women’s police station) and lodged a complaint. An FIR was registered against her husband, his parents, and his sister under charges of dowry harassment, criminal intimidation, and forced abortion. DCP Dhawal Jaiswal confirmed that investigations are underway.
