Abhay Singh, the ‘IIT Baba’ who rose to fame after going viral during Maha Kumbh Mela is back in the news after he was reportedly assaulted during a news debate at a private channel’s studio in Noida. The former self-proclaimed IITian claimed that a group of saffron-clad individuals entered the newsroom, misbehaved with him, and beat him with sticks.

He filed a police complaint alleging misbehavior and physical attack at the studio, later staging a protest outside Sector 126 police outpost before withdrawing it following police assurances.

Maha Kumbh Context

IIT Baba gained attention through philosophical discourses blending scientific concepts with spirituality. It is his bold statements and predictions that often keep him in the spotlight.

Recently, he found himself at the center of social media trolling after he predicted that India would lose to Pakistan in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. However, his prophecy about India’s defeat went awry after the Men in Blue triumphed, thanks to the astounding century by Virat Kohli.

IIT Baba's Background

If reports are to be believed, Singh is an aerospace engineer-turned-sadhu. He has reportedly graduated from IIT Bombay and worked as a photographer, design consultant, and educator before embracing spirituality. He credits his scientific training for enhancing logical reasoning but emphasizes arts and philosophy for emotional growth.

Police Response:

While Abhay has been claiming to be an IITian, it is not immediately known if he is telling the truth. While he gained instant fame for choosing spirituality over corporate jobs like other IITians, his absurd statements have now irked people on social media users.

While many highlight that he is a habitual offender and addicted to ‘ganja’ which might be the reason for him leading the life of a sadhu, others have shown remorse on him and requested everyone to not troll him.

The authenticity of his IIT background is yet to be revealed.
