Halloween is about to get eerier this year as one of America’s most notorious haunted homes- the Rhode Island farmhouse that inspired The Conjuring- is scheduled to go up for auction on October 31, 2025. The decision to sell the property on the very day associated with ghosts, ghouls, and supernatural tales feels nothing short of poetic.

The Farmhouse That Inspired a Franchise

According to a document posted by JJ Manning Auctioneers, located at 1677 Round Top Road, Burrillville, the colonial-era farmhouse dates back to the 18th century and spans more than 3,000 square feet on 8.5 acres of land. Its sinister reputation comes from the chilling experiences of the Perron family in the 1970s- events that caught the attention of famed paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren and later inspired the 2013 blockbuster The Conjuring.

"This antique farmhouse that has become famous for historical paranormal sightings and activity. In 2013, Warner Brothers released “The Conjuring,” which was based off true paranormal events that occurred at the subject residence with the Perron Family in the 1970’s,” the listing says.

From Paranormal Hotspot to Financial Trouble

The property last sold in 2022 for $1.525 million to Boston developer and self-proclaimed medium Jacqueline Nuñez. She transformed the farmhouse into a paranormal tourism hub, offering overnight stays, ghost tours, and investigation packages. While the venture initially drew enthusiasts from across the globe, controversy soon followed. Nuñez accused an employee of theft after claiming a “spirit” revealed the act, and later faced licensing disputes with the local town. Financial struggles eventually led to foreclosure, paving the way for the Halloween auction.

A Magnet for Paranormal Enthusiasts and Celebrities

According to a report by New York Post, the house’s spooky fame ensures that bidding will likely attract more than average buyers. Already, comedian Matt Rife and YouTuber Elton Castee, both known for their interest in haunted locations, have shown curiosity about the sale. Paranormal investigators, collectors, and even investors in horror-themed attractions are expected to line up for their chance at owning a piece of supernatural history.

The Legacy Lives On

With its haunted reputation, cinematic significance, and perfectly timed Halloween auction, the farmhouse is more than just real estate- it’s folklore wrapped in wood and stone. Whether the next owner treats it as a tourism business, a private residence, or simply a collector’s trophy, one thing is certain: the echoes of its paranormal past will continue to intrigue and terrify for generations.
