For most brides, the first months of marriage are filled with love, affection, and excitement for the future. But for this 31-year-old woman, those dreams have quickly faded into heartache. Just weeks after marrying her 30-year-old husband, she says she feels unloved, invisible, and deeply disappointed, describing the marriage as 'a mistake I can’t undo.'
From Excitement to Emotional Distance
Sharing her story on Reddit, the woman revealed she had always been an affectionate partner, excited about celebrating monthly anniversaries and making thoughtful gestures. But her husband, she claims, has shown little interest in reciprocating, not even with a single flower or note.
Her feelings of neglect intensified when he left for a work trip. Respecting his schedule, she avoided messaging him during the day. That evening, she opened up about feeling mentally low and struggling to work for days, expecting comfort in return. Instead, he told her he was tired and ended the call.
A Cold Shoulder and Silence
Later that night, when she reached out again, he responded an hour later with a photo of himself drinking beer with friends. Over the next two days, he sent only brief messages. Feeling deeply hurt, she confronted him via text, accusing him of treating her worse than an enemy. His response was short and dismissive: “Sure, I don’t really have an answer… Wishing you well.”
Since his return from the trip, he hasn’t called or texted her at all.
Love Unreturned
The woman says she has so much love to give but feels it’s wasted on someone who doesn’t value it. She now questions whether to stay in a marriage where her mental health is dismissed and her affection goes unappreciated.
