In a touching moment that has warmed hearts across the internet, a video of a Delhi firefighter visiting a London fire station has gone viral highlighting a powerful conversation about recognition for India’s unsung heroes.

The video was shared by Pooja Kharb, an Indian living in the UK, who captured the sheer joy of her father, a Delhi firefighter, as he toured a fire station in London.

“Papa was soooo happy! A big thank you to the London Fire Brigade and Soho Fire for giving my papa a wonderful tour,” Pooja wrote in her post.

The clip shows her father proudly carrying his ID card, eager to meet his UK counterparts, and later posing in a firefighter’s jacket in front of a gleaming London fire rig.

Social Media Reacts: A Tale of Two Worlds

The wholesome moment quickly became a catalyst for a larger conversation on social media about how Indian firefighters are often underappreciated.

One user pointed out, “In India, no one appreciates firefighter jobs or workers, thinking it's a third-grade job without any prestige. But in Western countries, people respect firefighters and kids see superheroes in them.”

Another wrote, “Very nice. Tell him thank you for his service.”

A third chimed in with, “That’s way too cool! Your dad must have been over the moon to meet his compatriots in uniform.”

A Reminder to Celebrate Our Own

While the video highlights the universal brotherhood among first responders, it also serves as a reminder of the stark difference in societal attitudes toward them. As Pooja’s father’s face lit up with joy, many were left wondering why don’t we celebrate our own heroes the same way?
