A wedding took an unexpected turn when the bride, incensed by the absence of traditional customs in the groom's procession, adamantly refused to proceed with the marriage. The groom's failure to bring baand, baaja and mare led to the bride calling off the wedding.
According to a LIVE Hindustan report, the incident took place in UP’s Firozabad on April 23, 2024 (Tuesday).
Reportedly, on Tuesday night, the groom reached the bride’s village for the wedding with his family. Everything was going fine till the bride's family came to know that the groom’s family had not brought a band, baaja and mare (horse) for the baraat.
The bride’s family expressed their displeasure to the family. Later, when the bride came to know about it she called her groom to ask about it. On the phone call, the groom allegedly abused the bride due to which the bride decided to call off the wedding.
Following this, efforts were swiftly made to resolve the dispute, with village elders and community leaders convening a panchayat on Wednesday.
Despite these efforts, the bride remained resolute in her decision, citing allegations of pre-marital abuse and demands for additional dowry from the groom. She said if the groom is abusing her before marriage then what will he do after marriage. So she can’t marry him
Police intervention followed, with both parties agreeing to reimburse the wedding expenses in writing. Consequently, the groom along with family members returned without the bride leaving a somber atmosphere in the wedding household.
Inspector in-charge Anil Kumar Singh confirmed the events, stating that both parties had agreed to the financial settlement, according to LIVE Hindustan report.
