We often hear news of robbers breaking into banks and looting ATM machines. However, thieves in India’s IT hub Bengaluru have gone an extra length in their robbery. A few thieves in Bengaluru have reportedly stolen an entire bus shelter worth Rs 10 lakh.
As strange as it sounds, the thieves have stolen the entire bus shelter, that too from a busy Bengaluru street. Interestingly, the bus shelter was stolen merely a week after its installation and was located behind the Bengaluru city police commissioner’s office.
Based on a complaint by N Ravi Reddy, the associate vice-president of the company responsible for the construction of BMTC bus shelters in Bengaluru, police registered a case and launched a probe into the incident.
The complaint reads, “We had constructed this particular bus shelter on Cunningham Road. It was a stainless-steel structure. The cost of the shelter was Rs 10 lakh.”
Well, this isn’t the first time an entire bus shelter has vanished. Earlier, in May 2015, an entire bus stand – The Doopanahalli bus stop near Horizon School had disappeared. The pillars, the chairs, ceiling everything disappeared.
Similarly, in 2014, a 20-year-old bus stop had gone missing in BEML Layout III Stage, Rajarajeshwarinagar.
