The Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru is home to many top-tier engineering and research institutions and center of India’s high-tech industry. Apart from being known as the nation’s leading information technology (IT) exporter, Bengaluru is also known for its awful traffic and long road blockades.
While people shift to the city to earn more and have a good life, it feels pretty much lonely with long office hours and travel time, stuck in traffic. An X user shared his view of Bengaluru and has since been trending for revealing the truth of the city.
“Most techies in Bangalore are pretty lonely. Away from family, no real friends, stuck in traffic, high rents, children not getting good values, peers into status games, cringe tech meet-ups, shoves body with coffee & alcohol, hair-loss, tummies poppies out and paying highest taxes,” the user shared.
While it sounds pretty harsh, our day-to-day lives have become monotonous. His post has gone viral, sparking a debate among other social media users. As expected, netizens shared their views and gave different reactions in the comments section.
While a section of users related with it, others said that it had become a part and parcel of life these days, owing to the competitive world we live in now.
“These are some of the demerits of lopsided development. Had there been fulfilling jobs in native places, they would not have stayed away from their homes,” shared a user.
Another user shared, “This is true in every city I believe, it's not just about the techies, this generation is through this mess, whether they are students, engineers, working professionals.”
“Very accurate description, esp. the loneliness bit. Then the anxiety due to traffic, poor infrastructure, and high rents further adds to the misery making one feel trapped and despondent inspite of a high-paying job, completely messing up your physical and mental health,” shared another user.
“This isn't just limited to Bangalore if you ask me. Metro cities and anyone above 27-28 is the same,” shared another user.
