A lady teacher of a private school in Bengaluru along with her two accomplices has been arrested for allegedly blackmailing and extorting money from the father of one of her students.

The accused, identified as Sridevi Rudagi (25), Ganesh Kale (38), and Sagar (28), reportedly extorted Rs 4 lakh from the victim and later demanded Rs 20 lakh from him, according to an NDTV report.

Blackmail and Extortion

The victim, a businessman from western Bengaluru, had enrolled his five-year-old daughter in the school last year. During the admission process, he met Rudagi, who later maintained contact with him. Their conversations eventually led to a personal relationship, which Rudagi allegedly exploited to demand money.

Initially, she demanded Rs 4 lakh, which the businessman, identified as Satish, paid. In January, she increased her demand to Rs 15 lakh. Facing financial difficulties, Satish planned to move his family to Gujarat and approached the school in March to secure his daughter’s Transfer Certificate (TC).

Trapped and Threatened

However, when he visited Rudagi’s office, he was allegedly trapped by her associates, Kale and Sagar, who confronted him with private photos and videos of his interactions with Rudagi. The duo demanded Rs 20 lakh, threatening to leak the content to his family. After negotiations, Satish agreed to pay Rs 15 lakh, transferring Rs 1.9 lakh as an initial payment.

Despite this, the extortion continued. On March 17, Rudagi allegedly called him again, explaining how the money would be divided—Rs 5 lakh for a former police officer, Rs 1 lakh each for Kale and Sagar, and the remaining Rs 8 lakh for herself.

Unable to handle the pressure, Satish approached the police. Investigators later found that the so-called former police officer had no involvement in the case.

Police Action and Arrest

Following the complaint, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) launched an investigation and arrested Rudagi, Kale, and Sagar. They have been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days, and further investigations are underway.
