At least 68 women reportedly tested positive for HIV in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, reports said. These women tested positive for HIV during prenatal check-ups and counseling at a district women’s hospital. 20 out of the 68 women suspect they got infected after getting tattoos in their bodies.
They claimed they had got the tattoos done from roadside tattoo artists. Soon, their health began deteriorating and the symptoms of HIV appeared. The women accused the tattoo artist of using the same infected needle a number of times.
Reportedly, all the infected women were administered safe childbirth care. Meanwhile, social media users reacted online and bashed the rising trend of tattoos among girls in India while others maintained that there was negligible chance of HIV due to tattoos.
“Tattoos are the first signs of mental depravity. What is it with Indian woman and their tattoos? Every time, I go visit I see more woman with them,” shared a user.
“What is this tattoo shit? I mean printing something permanently on your body which is of no value is the most nonsense act I have seen,” shared another user.
Another user shared, “Strict parents always build character and help us to walk on right paths.”
“Chance of getting HIV from a tattoo is low to negligible. I am sure tattoo was a convenient excuse,” shared another user.
