In an inspiring act of philanthropy, Meghraj and Ajit Dhakad, two brothers from Shishoda village in Rajasthan's Rajsamand district, have transformed their childhood government school into a state-of-the-art educational institution. Donating approximately Rs 15 crore through the Mangalam Charitable Trust, the Dhakad family rebuilt the school in memory of their parents, naming it the Kankubai-Sohanlal Dhakad Government Higher Secondary School, a report in Udaipur Times stated.
The newly constructed three-story building spans around 50,000 square feet and houses 40 rooms, including classrooms, science and computer laboratories, a library, a prayer hall, meeting rooms, and study areas.
With modern classrooms, labs, and facilities like top private schools, this new government school is giving village kids access to quality education. The campus is equipped with modern amenities such as CCTV surveillance, interlocking pathways, and sports facilities, including volleyball and basketball courts. The construction of this facility took six years to complete.
The inauguration ceremony on May 10, 2025, was attended by Rajasthan's Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar, who praised the school's grandeur and announced plans to include it in the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme. Other dignitaries present included MP Mahima Kumari Mewar and local MLAs.
This initiative by the Dhakad brothers exemplifies how community-driven efforts can significantly enhance public education infrastructure, setting a benchmark for similar endeavors across the country.
This is more than just a building — it's about giving back to the community and creating a better future for the next generation. The Dhakad family's gift is a powerful example of how one act of kindness can change many lives.
