In a bizarre incident, an eight-year-old boy was forced to watch TV whole night as punishment by his parents. The 'inhumane' punishment has been reported from Hunan Province in central China.

The parents forced their son to watch television whole night because he watched too much television and did not do his homework, reported South China Morning Post.

Now, this extreme level punishment of the couple has stirred a debate on social media. While a few call it tough-love, the video has left the Internet furious.

In every country, be it China, India or the US, parents discipline their children and teach them important life values. There might be variety of ways of teaching their kids, but the ultimate goal of every parent is to make their children a good human being and to do something valuable in their life.

However, this Chinese couple went to extremes to teach their kid a lesson. According to South China Morning Post, the little boy’s parent went out after asking him to finish his homework. However, they returned to find him watching TV and he hadn’t finished his homework.

Although, they had asked him to go to bed by 8:30 PM, he went to bed only after they returned home.
The couple was so enraged that the boy’s mother dragged him back to the living room. She then turned on the TV and forced him to watch it the whole night until morning. They even took turns to keep a watch on the boy so that he did not sleep while watching TV the whole night.

Reports said, the boy initially was unbothered and ate snacks. But he soon started getting tired and was unable to sit and watch. He struggled to stay awake and even cried and pleaded with his mother to be allowed to sleep, but to no avail.

The couple nudged and forced him to be awake and continue watching TV when he fell asleep. They did not allow him to blink an eye until 5 in the morning.

Now, a CCTV footage of the incident has been going viral on social media websites in China that shows the boy falling asleep on the couch, only to be nudged awake by his mother or father and forced to watch more television.

He was not allowed to sleep until 5 am, the report said.

Meanwhile, the incident has triggered a fierce debate over parenting. Many social media users termed the punishment as ''too harsh'' and even demanded stern action against the parents.
