Bhubaneswar: Three anti-socials posing as Maoists, involved in many criminal cases, were on Tuesday arrested from Jajpur district.

Police said the trio were involved in extortions, holding threats and pasting of posters in the name of Maoist organisation in different places in Jajpur and Keonjhar districts.

One revolver, one country made gun, two mobile phones, Maoist posters and other materials were recovered from them.

In another development, police recovered arms and ammunition from an abandoned well under Kalinga Nagar police limits in Jajpur district.

The recovery includes one country made gun and eight live cartridges.

"We suspect the hidden arms and ammunition would have been used against the surrendered Maoists in Jajpur district," police said.
