Rourkela: Three dacoits of a six-member gang were today arrested during a raid, police said.

While three gang members of the gang were overpowered by a police squad, three others escaped, Rourkela superintendent of police H K Lal said.

The arrested members were identified as Puli Mahadeb alias Madhab (20), Alu Ajaya (25) and A Budu alias Rabi (20). All of them were hailed from Aska police limit of Ganjam district. The gang was planning a dacoity in the civil township area.

A single shot pistol along with one round live catridge, cash worth Rs 2,900, two motor cycles, one basket breaking equipment and 3 mobile sets were seized from their possession during the raid in civil township area under Uditnagar police limit.

Their interrogation revealed their involvement in two cases under Plant site police limit on March 26, 2012 and a bank robbery of Rs 10 lakh from Uditnagar branch of SBI on December 29, 2011. All the three were booked under several sections of IPC including Arms Act and produced before a local court which remanded them to jail custody.
