The girl has been admitted to the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences, where she is being treated for injuries to the head, backbone and legs. The four men have been arrested, Mysore Additional Superintendent of Police Rajanna said. The girl, a tailor at a garment factory in Bangalore, was travelling to her hometown Mysore on leave to spend time with her grandmother when the incident took place, he said.
Meanwhile, a group of 20 to 25 people belonging to Hindu Jagaran Vedike assaulted the four men when they were brought today to the Mandya Railway station for inquiry. However, none of the accused have sustained any injuries and are safe, police said.
Hindu Jagaran Vedike activists staged a protest demanding that Bangalore-Mysore trains be guarded by police and flayed Railway police`s "negligence" to provide security to commuters travelling between Bangalore to Mysore. Doctors at Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences attending to the girl said she is out of danger.
