Woofs to words! THIS AI tool may translate your dog's barks into human language

Pets can be trained to understand various commands and instructions. Even pet parents who develop a strong bond with their pets can often recognise certain sounds, and respond to their pets' attempt to communicate. However, it is challenging for pet parents to interpret their pets' vocalisations. What if you could understand your dog's woofs? Though it sounds surprising, an AI tool may translate your dog's barks into human language.

AI Tool To Translate Barks Into Human Language

Reportedly, a Chinese company called Baidu is planning to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to translate animal noises into human languages. According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the Beijing-based search engine company has filed a patent with the country's National Intellectual Property Administration for a new high-tech translation system.

How Does It Work?

According to the report, the translation tool works by collecting various types of data from the target animal, which includes body language, voice, behavioural changes, and other biological signs. Later, the AI-powered application determines the emotion by analysing the data and converting it into the targeted language.

As per the report, it is stated in the patent document that the system would allow 'deeper emotional communication and understanding between animals and humans, which will improve the efficiency of communication between cross-species.'

Notably, a spokesperson of Baidu said that there has been a lot of interest in the filing of the patent application. However, he cautioned that the project is currently in the research phase.

As per the publication, the patent was submitted in December but was publicly published a couple of days ago.

Well, this is not the first time that scientists have attempted to decode animal voices. Several apps are available that claim offering pet-to-human translations. However, most of the apps have poor ratings and deemed simple.
