Managing app settings is crucial for both privacy and efficiency in today’s digital age.
WhatsApp, a popular messaging platform owned by Meta, offers several customizable features that can significantly enhance your user experience and protect your privacy.
Here are three essential settings you should adjust in WhatsApp:
Prevent Automatic Media Downloads
By default, WhatsApp automatically downloads photos and videos received in chats, which can quickly use up your phone’s storage and data. This can be particularly troublesome if you're in multiple group chats with lots of media.
To prevent automatic downloads, go to WhatsApp Settings, then tap on Storage and Data, and select Download Media. Here, you can turn off automatic downloads for photos, videos, and audio files for all chats, or customise settings for specific chats.
Set Media Upload Quality to HD
WhatsApp may not always send photos and videos in the highest quality by default. To ensure your media is shared in HD, adjust the upload quality settings.
Go to WhatsApp Settings, then tap on Storage and Data, and select Media Upload Quality. Choose "Best Quality" to make sure all your media is sent in HD.
Stop Unknown Calls and Messages
If you are receiving unwanted calls or messages from unknown numbers on WhatsApp, you can easily stop them.
Go to WhatsApp Settings, tap on Privacy, then Advanced. Turn on "Protect IP Address in Calls" and disable "Link Previews." This will help prevent unwanted messages and calls from unknown sources.
