How to port to other telecom operators amid mobile tariff hikes in India
Following the recent increase in mobile tariffs, many users in India are considering switching from their current telecom operators to BSNL, while others are moving from Jio to Airtel and vice versa.
Companies like Jio, Vi, and Airtel have raised prices for both prepaid and postpaid plans by an average of 15%.
Annual recharge plans from these operators have also increased by about Rs 500 to Rs 600.
BSNL appears to be taking advantage of this situation. According to several news sources, BSNL is expected to launch its 4G services nationwide next month, prompting many users to consider switching their mobile number to BSNL.
Here's a step-by-step guide for mobile number portability to BSNL network;
Open your text message app and send a message to 1900 in this format: 'PORT
After sending the message, you will receive an OTP. This OTP is necessary.
The UPC allocated to you will be valid for fifteen days from the date of request in all service areas, except for Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, and North East licensed areas, where the validity period will be thirty days.
You will need to provide this OTP to the Service Centre person to proceed further.
- Visit a customer service center or retailer and request mobile number porting. If you want to switch to BSNL, go to a BSNL service center.
- Fill out a Customer Application Form (CAF) and pay any required porting fees for processing. Currently, BSNL does not charge fees for porting into their network.
- You will receive a new BSNL SIM card. Once your porting request is approved, BSNL will inform you of the date and time of porting. You must change your SIM card at the specified time.
