Smartphone users often face security issues, as hackers can access their sensitive information. The Indian government regularly warns users to keep their devices updated.

Recently, Apple users in India received a new security warning from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). Issued on September 19, 2024, this alert has a high severity rating.

The issue is significant because it affects many Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and Macs. CERT-In noted that these vulnerabilities could allow attackers to access sensitive information, run unauthorized code, bypass security restrictions, cause denial of service (DoS) issues, bypass authentication, and perform spoofing attacks.

The affected devices include:

  • Apple iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 18

  • Apple iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 17.7

  • Apple Safari versions prior to 18

  • Apple watchOS versions prior to 11

  • Apple tvOS versions prior to 18

  • Apple macOS Ventura versions prior to 13.7

  • Apple macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.7

  • Apple visionOS versions prior to 2

Older iPhone models like the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X are also vulnerable.

How to Secure Your iPhone from These Threats

To protect your iPhone and Mac, make sure to update your devices regularly. Check for software updates in your settings and install them as soon as they are available.

These updates often include important security patches that fix vulnerabilities.

Additionally, consider enabling two-factor authentication for your accounts. This adds an extra layer of security, making it harder for hackers to access your sensitive information, even if they obtain your password.

Staying vigilant and informed will help keep your devices safe from threats.
