How AI 'Friend' wearable works to combat loneliness; know here
The AI market is expanding quickly due to its growing use in various industries like healthcare, finance, and transportation, making tasks easier and more automated.
Recently, a new AI wearable called ‘Friend’ was developed by entrepreneur Avi Schiffman. It aims to address loneliness by offering constant companionship.
The device is about the size of an AirTag and is designed to provide emotional support rather than focusing on productivity or multitasking.
Other wearable devices like the ‘Humane AI’ pin and the ‘Rabbit R1’ are different from this ‘Friend’ AI device. The ‘Friend’ AI device enhances productivity by serving as a companion that can chat with you, discuss movies, or analyze social events.
What is Friend AI?
The Friend device, which resembles an AirTag, is worn around the neck as a pendant. It functions as an AI chatbot housed within the small pendant.
According to the promotional video, ‘Friend’ is a friendly chatbot that shares its opinions on various topics. It communicates with users through text messages and push notifications on a paired smartphone.
Technically, ‘Friend’ is powered by the Claude 3.5 large language model, allowing it to engage in motivational and encouraging conversations.
The device offers about 15 hours of battery life. It is currently available for pre-order on the official website and will start shipping in January 2025. The price is approximately Rs 8,290 in India, and there is no subscription plan associated with it at this time.
