Google changes its logo during worldwide celebrations, and today (August 15), India is celebrating its 77th Independence Day. To mark this special occasion, Google has unveiled a unique doodle.
The doodle, created by guest artist Namrata Kumar from New Delhi, is a tribute to India's Independence Day.
The day holds significance as it commemorates India securing freedom from British rule in 1947.
The artwork is a captivating display of diverse textile traditions across India, meticulously organised in a grid-like arrangement.
It highlights a range of styles, from the vibrant Kutch embroidery of Gujarat to the intricate 'ikat' craftsmanship of Odisha, and from the detailed 'Pashmina kani' weaves of Jammu and Kashmir to the timeless 'Kasavu' weave of Kerala.
These distinct regional elements are showcased together, forming a rich tapestry of culture and creativity.
In the centre of this composition, the word 'GOOGLE' emerges with exquisite embroidery, serving as the central focal point.
When users click on the Google doodle, a new tab opens with the search query "Indian Independence Day."
The new tab features a display resembling a field of flowers made up of small rectangles in the colours of the Indian flag: saffron, white, green, and the secondary colour of navy blue representing the Ashok Chakra.
These rectangles descend, creating a vibrant celebration scene.
In this display, there are buttons for replaying the animation and for sharing the festive moment on social media platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and email.
