After taking over Twitter and clarifying that the microblogging site is need of immediate revamp, Elon Musk has finally declared his subscription plan for Twitter Blue.
“Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month,” tweeted Musk.
He further said that the ‘price adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity’.
Besides, the verified ones will get priority in replies, mentions and search, which is essential to defeat spam/scam. They will also be able to post long video and audio and half as many ads.
“And paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with us,” added Musk.
It is pertinent to mention here that several changes are taking place at the social media company after Musk took over Twitter.
Apart from the content policy, changes are also being made to Twitter verification process which adds ‘blue tick’ to accounts.
Musk had earlier declared that the entire verification process would be revamped.
The Twitter Blue subscription is already in effect in some countries where it offers its subscribers access to some unique features like ability to edit tweets.
Earlier, while replying to a Twitterati, Musk had clarified, “We need to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?”
