Yuzvendra Chahal has finally spoken publicly about his divorce from Dhanashree Verma, offering insight into the challenges they faced as a couple and addressing the cheating accusations that surfaced during their split.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2020, began facing issues in the third year of their marriage. In a candid conversation, the Indian cricketer shared that he chose to remain silent about the matter until everything was legally finalized.
"This had been going on for a while. We kept things private and maintained the appearance of a normal relationship," Chahal revealed.
He emphasized that both he and Dhanashree were deeply invested in their respective careers, which made it difficult to nurture their relationship. Relationships require compromise. If one person is upset, the other needs to be patient. I was travelling and playing for India, while she was focused on her own work. This continued for two years," he said.
Chahal added that despite mutual respect and effort, the lack of time and space for the relationship ultimately created distance. "Two ambitious individuals can stay together, but it’s important to support each other’s goals. When you’ve been working hard for nearly two decades, it's not easy to step away from that for a relationship," he explained.
Responding to the infidelity rumors, Chahal firmly denied any wrongdoing. "I’ve never been unfaithful. I’m a loyal person who follows his heart. Even though people didn’t know the full story, they were quick to point fingers at me. I come from a family with two sisters, and I’ve always been taught to respect women," he stated.
