Following the retirement of veteran batters like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the longest format of the game, the Indian team is currently under transitional phase.

Many batters are trying to find their feet in the Indian team. As a result, the visitors had to suffer in the first Test against England. Though the top order batters performed well, the middle order batsmen performed miserably and India lost the match.

Under the circumstance, there is a chance that in-form Shreyas Iyer may get a call from the BCCI selectors in the longest format of the game.

However, former India Test opener turned expert Aakash Chopra has ruled out the possibility of Iyer being considered for India's Test team anytime soon.

According to Chopra, there are several other batters, such as Sarfaraz Khan, waiting-in-line ahead of Shreyas when it comes to Test selection.

"There aren't many issues with the Indian batting, as it is. Besides, Shreyas Iyer won't get a chance now. Many others haven't gotten a chance either," said Chopra on his official YouTube channel.

"If you think about it, Karun Nair has only just gotten his chance. Sarfaraz Khan hasn't been given a shot. Dhruv Jurel is waiting on the sidelines. If he cannot even get among those who are in the waiting line, then how can Iyer be considered for selection?" he asked.
