Scoring a test century in English conditions means that you belong to a special category. The tough conditions in England not only test your footwork and technique, but it becomes a stern challenge for batsmen to navigate the swing. After showcasing his magic in Indian Premiere League for Gujarat Titans, India’s Sai Sudharsan right now is hogging the limelight for scoring a brilliant century (105 runs) in the county championship playing for Surrey at Trent Bridge.
We always tend to talk about Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad who will take forward the legacy of Indian cricket, but here is Sai who is constantly piling up runs across formats and making a name for his own.
The 22-year-old southpaw initially burst into the scene playing in a local tournament in Chennai and, with his nonchalant batting, he amassed 358 runs in eight matches at a healthy strike rate of 143.8. He went on to score runs in first-class cricket too with 1,118 runs where he showcased consistency and skill.
Earlier Sai expressed his excitement after representing Surrey for the second time.
‘’I'm so excited to represent Surrey again. I loved my time with the group last year and want to do my best to help the club achieve more success.’’ He said.
India is scheduled to play 10 test matches before the World Test Championship Final which is going to be held in England, in June 2025.
With India’s big Home season in Tests just around the corner, Sai Sudarshan is constantly making an impact and knocking on the doors of getting his maiden test cap for India. Will the India management bring this young prodigy from Tamil Nadu into the India Test Team? Only time will tell.
