Wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson is not a regular on the national side. He was also not in the team for the opening T20I versus Ireland at Malahide, Dublin. However, he seemed to be the most popular among Indian cricketers.
The explosive batter was found to be super popular in Dublin as he obliged the request of umpteen fans on the sidelines of the first T20. From autographs to selfies, Samson did it all during the rain-curtailed match.
With Ishan Kishan and Dinesh Karthik already in the playing XI, it would be interesting to see if Samson gets an opportunity in the second T20I today. India is currently focusing on preparations for Men’s T20 World Cup to be hosted by Australia in October-November. Hence, the Men in Blue will be keen to test more players in the second T20I.
Samson could get an opportunity to open with Kishan at the top of the order. If it happens, Samson would like to make the most of the opportunity to impress the selectors ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Samson, with his consistency in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and various domestic tournaments, has impressed several cricket experts across the globe.
