After his heroics against Zimbabwe, Mr 360. Suryakumar Yadav has added another feather to his exciting career. The stylish batsman has become the first Indian to smash a terrific 1,000 T20I runs in a single calendar year.
With his match-defining knocks (61 off just 25 balls) against the African team, he went past 1,000 runs in T20I in 2022. Suryakumar has now scored 1026 runs in just 28 T20I innings this year.
The 32-year-old is the first Indian to achieve the feat. Even fellow batsman Virat Kohli has been stunned by the record of Suryakumar and heaped praises on him.
After the 71 run win against Zimbabwe, Suryakumar shared a series of pictures from the match. Taking to his Instagram, he wrote, “No better feeling.”
The post has garnered lakhs of likes and comments after Yadav shared it on Instagram. However, it was Virat Kohli’s comment that caught everyone’s attention.
Commenting on Surya’s post, Virat Kohli wrote, “Alag Level.” Now, Virat Kohli’s comment has been going viral.
Even the official Twitter handle of BCCI shared the comment left by Kohli, and wrote: ".@imVkohli approves."
This was Suryakumar's third half-century of the tournament in which he played some mind-blowing strokes.
Speaking about his magnificent performance, Suryakumar said to Ravi Shastri, "I mean you got to understand what the bowler is going to bowl at that time. That is a little predetermined at that moment. I have practiced the stroke a lot, when I used to play a lot of rubber-ball cricket.”
“So, you got to be thinking what the bowler is thinking at that time. If the field is in I just back myself to go, there," he further added.
In 2022 so far, the stylish batter has hit 1026 runs at an average of 44.60 and a strike rate of 186.54.
Averaging more than 40 in T20Is is world-class in itself. Hitting at a strike rate in excess of 180 is also world-class.
