Putting retirement rumours to rest, former India captain Virat Kohli has kick-started his preparations for a return to one-day international cricket. On Friday, August 8, Kohli shared a glimpse of his training session in London, where he was seen working indoors with Gujarat Titans’ assistant coach, Naeem Amin.

In an Instagram story, Kohli thanked Amin, writing, “Thanks for helping out with the hit, brother. Always lovely to see you.” Dressed in a grey t-shirt and blue trousers, the batting icon looked sharp and focused, signaling his intent to get match-ready.

From Viral Beard Pic to Training Mode

The training update came just hours after a photo of Kohli’s greying beard went viral online, sparking fresh speculation about his future. Fans had debated whether the salt-and-pepper look hinted at an impending retirement. But with Kohli retaining the beard while batting, it’s clear he’s letting his game not the gossip, do the talking.

Road to Australia ODIs

Kohli is expected to feature in India’s ODI series in Australia from October 19 to 25. His comeback was delayed after the Bangladesh series, scheduled for August, was postponed.

The RCB superstar last played competitive cricket in June, during the IPL 2025 final in Ahmedabad, where his match-winning 43 helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru lift their maiden title.

After the historic win, Kohli travelled to London, attending Yuvraj Singh’s charity event and even enjoying a day at Wimbledon with wife Anushka Sharma. Now, with bat in hand once again, Kohli’s fans can look forward to seeing him back in blue soon.
